How to Hide Caller ID in One Plus 7 or Android 9 [With Pictures]

A lot of forums and blogs are out there with information on how to Show/Hide Caller ID but for OnePlus or Android and almost all have similar steps:
  • Settings - Call Settings and so on.

However, that is not the case on OnePlus 7 or Oxygen OS 9/Android 9.

I had a hard time searching for this setting, but eventually I figured it out.

I have been an avid iPhone user for a long time and recently switched to OnePlus for its popularity and commitment to build phones based on its community's feedback.
And needless to mention, the Amazing performance filled phones itself.

Normally, a phone user would expect Call settings would be under the settings app and would be easily accessible - At least from an iPhone perspective all the setting features are centralized and accessible through Settings app except for the third party apps.

All settings regardless of the function/feature should at least have shortcut in the Main settings app.

In this case, I found it strange that the Call setting is not the part of the actual settings instead it’s a separate section under the Dialer/Phone app.

Here's how you can access and modify this setting:
  1. Open the Dialer/Phone app
  2. Tap on the 3 Dots on top-right side and Tap on settings
  3. Tap Call settings
  1. Select the SIM whose Caller ID you want to hide or show.
  2. Tap on Additional Settings
  3. Tap on Caller ID and select:
  • Network Default/Show number to show your number on the receivers end when you call.
  • Hide Number to hide your number on the receiver's end.

These options are available under call settings:
  • Voice Mail
  • Fixed Dialing Numbers
  • Call forwarding
  • Call Barring
  • Additional Settings

If you hide the caller ID and call someone, it may show either of these No Caller ID, Private Number, Unknown Number or some random numbers on the receiver's screen.

If this post was helpful to you, please give a thumbs up and leave a comment.
I would be happy to know your feedback or suggestion.

    2. What is your location?
This option is dependent on your Sim Service provider.
For example, this option doesn't work in India as none of the service provider allow to hide the number. Where as, this is allowed in Australia. Make sense?

    1. After switching the option, can you check and confirm if the option is still selected?
Which phone and SIM card are you using?
      What is your location?
